We have been running trips with the Johnson family since the early 1990's. Very proud of that relationship and it ain't gonna change. These days, young James runs a great camp here and we can't wait to return next year...and the year after. Our customers expectations are exceeded and that is our #1 goal. I don't write reviews but I found the previous review a little unfair. Just because you wanted more pampering than you got you give them 1 star! If you wanted more pampering you could stay just down the river and pay twice as much. I just got back from a trip with 7 other friends to the Katmai Trophy Lodge and had a better time than I could have hoped for. The group running the lodge went above and beyond on any special requests we had and the food was great. Sure, I could have gotten better food at a big city steak house but I was off the beaten path in ALASKA! This was my first time fishing the Naknek River system so I can't speak about other guides from other lodges in the area but I'll tell you this group of guides is awesome. Great fisherman & they know these rivers. I look forward to the opportunity to get back out to Katmai Trophy Lodge and I know some other people that hope to do the same. Thanks James, I appreciate the service. BEWARE : Owner changed ! The positive message : The guides are really good. The less positive message : Forget everything you read or heared about this lodge, that is older than June 2016. The new owner follows a distinctly different philosophy than the previous one. No more pampering of guests and delicious food, very basic service and an extremely unfriendly owner. We shall never come back to this place and we know that many other poeple will do the same. Pity. Great place to fish This will be the 3rd year in a row that we will fish with KTL. Brad Giroux runs an excellent camp; very comfortable (private bath) accommodations, great food & outstanding guides. With the Naknek in your back yard & the whole Bristol Bay watershed with in a short flight, the fishing possibilities are endless. June 20th here we come!
