No see um is unquestionably the greatest fly fishing experience you will ever encounter. The beginning of the trip is highlighted with the flight from Anchorage in a vintage DC3 equipped with all first class seating. What a spectacular ride! Once you are at the lodge, the days start off with an incredible breakfast, always of your choosing, that includes fresh baked breads, eggs, omelets, fruit, cereal; basically whatever you like. After breakfast, hop into one of the fabulous Beavers and enjoy a flight to a quiet river or stream for incredible rainbow opportunities, salmon if the timing is right and you so desire, and sometimes incredible char as well. From first timers to pros, I have never heard a single fisherman or woman not enjoy the day. Lunches are on the river, are all hand-packed, are simple yet typically contain some sort of homemade goody from the lodges chef. After a great day of fishing, a dip on the hot tub is often in order, and a well stocked bar is at your beckon call. Dinners are also fabulous, always delicious, and you will be thankful for the calories burned on the river if you indulge in the deserts! Retire to your accommodations after dinner, which are simple yet incredibly comfortable. Hot showers are welcome and simple in your private bath. The staff at No See Um are amazing. John and Kari run a first rate operation, and from guides, to pilots, to lodge staff and the chef, everyone is friendly and focused on you having a wonderful time. While No See Um is not the cheapest Alaska Fly Fishing trip, it is certainly one of the best. You will have your own float plane for the day everyday (not be dropped off and picked up like some lodges), superior guides that will put you on beautiful fish, and incredible meals. If I could give more stars I would! No See Um Lodge offers a fantastic fly-out fly fishing experience! The lodge itself is beautiful and it sits on the shore on the Kvichak River. Each day (weather permitting) you fly to a river in search of huge rainbow trout, salmon (multiple varieties) and/or char. You spend the day on the river enjoying a shore lunch when taking a break from the action. All the pilots at the lodge are excellent and very safety-conscious. The guides too are excellent and do their best to help you catch and land some amazing fish. The chef prepares delicious meals; all staff are friendly and helpful; and the open bar has only top-notch liquors. We consider No See Um Lodge to be the best fly-fishing lodge we have enjoyed!! We've been guests at the lodge 10+ years and it's always a terrific experience. Do yourself a favor and enjoy this wonderful place! I've traveled the world fly fishing and I keep coming back to No See Um. The fishing is awesome because the owner keeps his thumb on the pulse of which area streams are fishing well. The lodge accommodates 12 anglers/wk so there is one dedicated beaver float plane for each 4 anglers and there is 1 guide for every 2 anglers. That means your plane stays with you all day--no worries about shuttling or getting picked up. John gets us to breakfast early so that we can depart early for the best waters. He clearly cares as much as we do about having the best fishing experience and he sets a high standard for his guides and staff. The lodge and cabins are wonderful. We always return from a day of fishing to enjoy amenities like the fully stocked bar, hot treats, sauna, hot tub, massage chair, and gazebo with fireplace. The full time chef prepares delicious meals. The guides and staff sit down at the dinner tables with guests and by the end of the week it feels like family. Some of us return the same week each year to enjoy the friendships we have developed. Highest recommendations. No SEE Um Lodge is without question one of the finest fly fishing experiences, one can ever have!! I have fished all over the country and the World, even traveled to Russia in pursuit of Giant TROUT. No See Um Lodge is Amazing! LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. I love the service I love the Property and Love the variety of fishing diversity and opportunity everyday to catch BIG fish, and every fisherman receives this same treatment when they book and fish at John Holman's NO SEE UM Lodge! It is hard to describe why this lodge meets every expectation, but it does that, each time you go there. Sept 2016, 4 months ago was my second trip, and it allowed me to Catch and Land the Largest Rainbow Trout I have ever caught!! 31.5 inches, 14 inch Girth,, and approximately 15 pounds! Wow, what can I say! WOW!! No See Um Lodge also has Gourmet Food for every meal, Nothing is left out, no small details missed! Love this place and will return again and again.!! It's Great for Business retreats or family fun!! I met new friends and some great Guides, and if you are lucky enough to fish with John Holman, What a Fly Fishing Art he makes of every cast!! John is a consummate Professional and incredible Pilot and knowledgeable Business owner and Lifelong Outdoorsman! After my 26 separate flights I truly felt safe and comfortable the entire trip. Flying out everyday is unmatched by other lodges. The volume of equipment and expense John has committed to this outdoor experience, cements my confidence in John and his crew.
